D.N. De Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, a distinguished institution renowned for its pioneering contributions to homoeopathic education. Under the governance of the Department of Health & Family Welfare, AYUSH Branch, Government of West Bengal, we have been leading the field of homoeopathy since our inception in October 1927. Initially named Dunham College of Homoeopathy, the institution was rechristened in January 1951 to honor its esteemed founder, Dr. D. N. De.Our journey began in two spacious rooms at 135/3, Bowbazar Street (currently Bepin Behari Ganguly Street), Calcutta. The college, at its nascent stage, offered H.L.M.S. and H.M.B. courses, which were conducted at various shifts. Despite initial challenges such as the absence of a dedicated dissection hall—resolved by winter arrangements in Khardah—the institution thrived due to the unwavering dedication of Dr. D.N. De and his team of committed educators.n 1936, an eminent homoeopath, Dr. Sanat Kumar Ghosh, joined forces with Dr. De, transitioning the college from a private to a public entity. By May of that year, the college relocated to 63, Upper Circular Road (now Acharya Prafulla Chandar Road), Calcutta. The same year marked the inauguration of a ten-bed Indoor Patient Department, facilitated by the generous support of the Calcutta Municipality. We regularly host postgraduate seminars featuring esteemed homoeopathic and modern medical practitioners from around the globe. Additionally, our outreach initiatives include medical camps and health awareness programs, underscoring our mission to alleviate human suffering and pursue the higher purposes of human existence. |
