How I Got a BAMS Seat with 360 Marks – Real Student Story (2025)

Every year, thousands of students with NEET scores below 400 give up hope for medical college. But many succeed — with the right approach.

This is the story of Riya Sharma (name changed), a 2025 NEET candidate who got a BAMS seat in a reputed private college with just 360 marks.

Here’s how she did it — and how you can too.

Background – Her NEET Journey

  • NEET 2025 score: 360
  • Category: OBC
  • State: Madhya Pradesh
  • First attempt: Yes
  • Target: MBBS, shifted to AYUSH after NEET result

Step 1 – Shifting Mindset from MBBS to BAMS

After not scoring enough for MBBS, she researched:

  • Job scope in Ayurveda
  • BAMS vs BHMS vs BUMS
  • Govt vs private colleges

She found that BAMS has solid growth with PG (MD Ayurveda) & clinic options.

Step 2 – Selecting the Right State Counselling

Instead of applying via MCC (AACCC), she chose Madhya Pradesh State AYUSH Counselling:

  • More private colleges
  • Transparent portal (ayush.mp.gov.in)
  • Low cutoff trend in private institutes

Tip: Apply in 2–3 states where domicile isn’t mandatory

Step 3 – Choosing Budget-Friendly Colleges

She shortlisted colleges with:

  • Fees under ₹3.5L/year
  • Proper hospital tie-up
  • NCISM recognition

Final preference list:

  1. RKDF Ayurvedic College, Bhopal
  2. LN Ayurvedic College, Bhopal
  3. Sri Sai Ayurvedic College, Bhopal

Step 4 – Applying in Mop-Up Round

In Round 1 & 2, she didn’t get a seat. But she:

  • Re-applied in Mop-Up with fresh registration
  • Updated choices after seeing seat matrix
  • Got allotted RKDF Bhopal with 360 marks (OBC quota)
