Introduction:
BAMS, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, is an undergraduate degree aimed at imparting in-depth knowledge of Ayurvedic practice and principles along with modern medical science. The course is designed to make students capable of treating patients with Ayurvedic interventions, developing immunity, and reducing the occurrence of diseases. The BAMS course is designed in such a manner as to include a vast spectrum of Ayurvedic and modern medical subjects. The syllabus, under the National commission for Indian System of Medicine, is divided into four: First Professional, Second Professional, and so forth. Students study about five subjects every year, including Sanskrit. The course is of 5.5 years duration with a compulsory 12-month internship, thus making students ready for clinical practice.

The BAMS course is split into four professional segments, each consisting of 4 to 5 subjects. Each subject is further split into two halves, with a 100-point written test allotted to each segment. The course comprises essential components like demonstrations, viva-voce examination, and practical training for subjects like Dravyaguna Vighyan and Aged tantra. Students graduating from the BAMS course are also made to undergo a compulsory internship in order to gain practical experience and to implement theoretical knowledge in practical fields.
