J.B. Roy State Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital with its annexed Patipukur Ayurvedic Hospital (Formerly known as Jamini Bhushan Astanga Ayurveda Vidyalaya and Ayurvediya Arogyashala including the Patipukur T.B. Hospital) was established in the year 1916 by renowned Ayurvedic Physician Late Kabiraj Jamini Bhushan Roy, M.A, M.B. The present building of the Institution at 170-172 Raja Dinendra Street, Calcutta-700004 was constructed in the year 1926. Before the establishment of the General Council & State Faculty of Ayurvedic Medicine, Bengal the Institute used to confer the Diploma of L.A.M.S. (Licentiate in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), Vishagratna. After its affiliation of the General Council and State Faculty of Ayurvedic Medicine , Bengal in 1937 the Institution was following the course of studies and curriculum as laid down by the said body. The General council and State Faculty of Ayurvedic Medicine were subsequently succeeded by the Paschim Banga Ayurved Parishad since 1961 to which the Institution is affiliated. |
